We buy our organic Mesquite powder directly from Peru, where it is grown by small family farms in the Piura region and then gently processed.
After the long, up to 30 cm, pods are mature, which can be recognized by their light to dark brown color, the harvest is done by hand.
The pods are collected in baskets and then transported for further processing to nearby production sites.
There the pods are washed and sorted. Only the best quality is used for the production of Mesquite powder. Afterwards the pods are carefully dried and then ground to powder.
Through the direct purchase from small producers in Peru we support the livelihood of small family farms and ensure that cultivation, harvest, and production is being done in harmony with nature.
Mesquite powder can be used in many different ways:
It tastes malty, with hints of cinnamon and caramel, can be mixed into smoothies, e.g. with almond milk, or it can be sprinkled on ice cream. It is especially delicious in combination with Cocoa or Maca.
If a little more flavor is desired, Mesquite powder can also serve as flour substitute.
