Superfood is the natural supplier of minerals and vitamins for vegans
Those who chose to be vegan and follow this lifestyle have taken vegetarianism a logical step further and refuse all foods that have an animal origin. This means no butter, milk, or honey come to the table. Also no more gummy bears (watch out for gelatine) ...
And it doesn’t stop there: all products for personal daily use, such as clothing and cosmetics, that are made from animal products or experiments, are also avoided. Other reasons, such as care for the environment and its ecological aspects, as well as political motives, play a role in changing your diet to be vegan.
Meat eaters that want to scale back their consumption of animal products and are curious, reach for vegan products more and more often, and discover a vast array of vegan foods, that are neither boring nor tasteless. Creative cooks and inspiring vegan blogs prove that a delicious meal can be cooked out of simple ingredients like potatoes, beetroot and soy products.
Delicious cake creations made with vegan ingredients demonstrate that eggs and butter are not always necessary for cooking: almond and coconut oil, agave syrup, and nuts are a few alternatives.
TO KNOW ABOUT NUTRITION
Being vegan is a consequentially thought through attitude towards life, and due to the offerings in vegan products today it provides a real alternative to normal nutrition, as long as vegans are knowledgeable in all food related things. Care must be taken that enough nutrients, such as iron and especially vitamin B12, are consumed. Iron can be found in plants and vegetables, however, it is absorbed better by the body if it comes from meat. Vitamin B12 is almost only found in animal products and should be taken as a nutritional supplement.
The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) recommends that vegans should seek qualified advice and regularly check their supply of critical nutrients by a physician.
You will find several of such nutritional supplements in our shop, such as the superfoods Camu Camu and Canihua, which have a high iron content. Or Sacha Inchi, which is also known for its vegan protein.
How you can use these supplements in muesli or a smoothie can be found under our Recipes.
Good to know: all products offered in our shop are perfectly suited for vegans.
